MIKE O'CONNELL

So, what's my story???

Growing up in Massachusetts suffice to say that physical fitness has always been a big part of my life. As a young athlete I excelled in sports and got an early introduction to calisthenics and strength training, but after a series of injuries I was forced to rework everything I knew about health and wellness. Broadening my perspective, I learned the importance of core training and movement. I started practicing Yoga and Pilates. Eventually I incorporated metabolic conditioning (Crossfit) and obstacle course race training to my repertoire, never straying too far from the the fundamentals. I honed my skills further, obtaining my CPT at Premier Global (NASM partner) in the UK in 2014, and hold certifications in Kettlebells, TRX, and Spin. I also ran bootcamp classes in the park and on the beach in Barcelona. These days I split time between training clients in a studio setting in Reading and at a large commercial gym in Peabody. I focus my own training mostly on functional strength (I love spending time in the mountains!) and the main movements patterns. I train for life and want to be ready for whatever gets thrown my way. Your success is what motivates me.

I'm a firm believer that living a healthy lifestyle starts with making good choices. My aim as your personal trainer is to outline your goals, identify your obstacles, and foster ways we can increase the likelihood of success and minimize stagnation. The design of each training program is tailored to your specific needs, and I will guide you through the process of periodization and adaptation until we achieve our goal, and then set new ones. I have helped many clients of all ages from all corners of the globe with various levels of fitness and ability achieve what they could not do on their own and I have been invested in all of them. I do this because I am passionate about helping others and not for the paycheck. My years of experience and down-to-earth approach to diet and exercise will have you feeling fitter, stronger, and more agile than you've felt in a long time.
